about
I think I wrote this song sometime in the summer of 2016. It was originally slated to come out on a compilation on Ripperton's Tamed Musiq (home of the first Pyramid Lake record) but I took forever trying to perfect it and he ended up moving on without me. It then was supposed to come out on Forth's second compilation but once again, I had trouble letting it go. Do you see a pattern here? At some point around the Forth compilation talk, I had a young man come up to me in the club who had heard it at Hadi Mousattat /Joel Lee or Lukas Switlicki's house and he told me he thought it was one the best song he had ever heard from a Toronto artist and he couldn't understand why I had not been able to get it signed and why would I hoard something like that. I was defensive at the time... but he was right. I had trouble letting go of things I create, I still do. My lizard brain still gets in the way. I'm trying to get better at this, now that none of it matters from a career standpoint as I am back to making music mostly as a form of catharsis.
I hope you find some joy in it and if not, this is at least a good life lesson about not being too precious about your art.
Bandcamp link in the comments below and it will be on all streaming service sometime in the next 24 hours.
ps: I found this artwork on reddit but the author was deleted so I have no idea who drew this but I love it. It's a mycelium network.
